We started the day off by moving furniture for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, which is a second-hand store.  The furniture had to be moved so that a new floor could be installed in the afternoon.  Pictured are Lisa, Jenn, Brianne, Andrew, Ryan, Kelsey, and Cindy in the back.  In the front are Alyssa, Chelsea, Steff, and Naiomi.  Cindy is our Habitat for Humanity Site Coordinator for the week!  We met the store owner, Marty, who is from New Jersey, and Bruce, who is working on a recycling initiative here in Pickens.
Part of our task was to take out boxes from the store, but we accidentally put them in the dumpster.  Minutes later, we were sent out to collect the boxes in order to recycle them, and helped to rid the dumpster of any recyclable materials.  Pictured are Lisa, Brianne, and Naiomi.
One of the fun objects we found in the dumpster was this cute horse.  Naturally, Steff jumped on to test it out!
Since we finished so quickly at the ReStore, we were able to take a few minutes to see some other finished Habitat Houses in the area.  Cindy took this opportunity to share some of the history of Habitat for Humanity with us.  Cindy has been doing an excellent job as the site coordinator and has been very patient in teaching us everything we need to know, from how to properly use a hammer to how to read blue-prints and adjust the wall markings.
On the way back to our Habitat site, we stopped by Cindy's house and were very surprised (and excited!) to see cows in her front lawn!  Her house is a beautiful, self-designed masterpiece on a hill, complete with animals and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains.  Here, we see Alyssa and Chelsea posing with her cows
When we got back to our site after lunch, we had to place the plywood over the frame of the house in order to complete it.  Kelsey is helping to move the plywood to a new, permanent location.
Once we finish that job, everyone takes a break to soak up some of the beautiful sun.  The weather was gorgeous today, and the sun was so strong that we couldn't give this chance up!
However, we have to work, and Brianne helps Kelsey use the Sawzall to cut out the windows and doors in the plywood boards.  They were the only two brave enough to use the scary power tool!
Towards the end of the day, we attach the moisture wrap to the frame.  This is so that the house does not absorb moisture.
For dinner, the Grace United Methodist church made us delicious lasagna with lots of meat, salad, and homemade pound cake.  They also served authentic, homemade sweet tea to satisfy our thirst.  Singer sewing machines were made in Pickens County, and the makers of the sewing machine hand crafted the carvings on all of the mahogany wood.  The pipe organs in the background complete the beautiful view for the congregation.
After dinner, we met outside for a quick game of soccer!  The uneven slope of the parking lot lead to more ball chases than competition.
Finally, we ended the night with some blogging and the game "What's Yours Like?", in which you describe an object to the person in the "Hot Seat" with the hopes that they won't guess the correct answer.
